I did a lot of visual research that gives me a lot of inspirations. Now, I am trying to combine style of paper cut(collage) and pen drawing together; meanwhile, I drew some of the character sketches to open my mind.

Then I created two main characters on notebook.

Mr. K is serving.

The customer expresses that he ordered a cup of mike, but there is a coffee here.

Mr. K says that he ordered a coffee and the customer denies so he is very angry.  He expresses that he will post this bad serves on Internet. Mr. K persuades with smile that he will change to mike but the customer still mad about the serves.

(Long shot) The people around are beginning kicking up.

(Cut) The manager door suddenly opens. A big shadow envelops on Mr. K who is afraid to turn his head as the same time. The boss comes over and listens the customs with smile. He expresses that he can pay compensation for the customer.

The boss points out the office and walks back, Mr. K following. Door closed.

The boss expresses that the compensation will be charged from Mr. K’ salary. At the same time, he will be changed to wash dish.  Mr. K turns back with anger.

(Cut) He cleans up the dishes and washes a lot. The boss holds the dish and yells that the dish isn’t clean.

(Fade out) Noisy restaurant becomes quiet.

(Long shot) Mr. K is cleaning. He leans on the table, yawning. Suddenly, boss sound through over loudspeaker that is scared Mr. K.

(Cut, close-up) Mr. K is shown in invigilator. The camera zooms out. The boss holds the loudspeaker speaking.

Mr. K comes to the office again. The boss points the clock on the wall, yelling. His word turns to arrows stream into Mr. K’s heart.

Mr. K walks out of the office with depressed. His phone is ringing that he picks up the phone. It’s his girlfriend. Mr. K says all his salary is skimped this month. The phone in other side comes through a lot of words. These words press on Mr. K, like Tetris’ game over. (Black screen)

The camera follows his back. He walks into the kitchen and takes a knife. Then he walks outside of the restaurant. 

Back to the beginning. Finally, he scratches his boss' car.

New Story-- One day of Mr.K Opening Shot

Storyline:

This is a story about a waiter and his boss. The waiter would have a good mood in the morning. However, he is rebuked all day by his boss who is always in a bad temper. After the work, the waiter scrapes his boss' luxury car.

Current State & Changing:  


I start to consider the relationship of life and human, which is a good break to recreate my story after I watched Coda. 


So I decided to set this store between life and death. The main character is hovering between life and death that recalls him a lot of memories, so he is reluctant to leave. In the end of the story, he opens his eyes in the hospital.



Research:

Coda

The story is about a drunk man was killed by a car accident. His soul floats through the city. In the park, death finds him and shows him many things. I think the concept of the story is common to see, but the way of storytelling is unique. It expresses that we need to cherish this unpredictable life. Through interlocutions between death and soul, we can feel strong nostalgia in this character. It inspires me that using this way to let audience care about the character.
